I am working on the strength capacity of clamped-clamped cold formed steel columns with lipped channel sections on ANSYS. For this case I perform a non-linear analysis (ARCLEN), and for this solver it is necessary initial imperfections. Due to that, I run elastic buckling analysis previously, and with the displacements obtained, I use as initial imperfection for the non-linear analysis.
For inserting the initial imperfection I use the command UPGEOM. This command gets the displacements from the last analysis, which in my case is the elastic buckling analysis.
However, my physical problem involves two different buckling modes, and i need to insert them as initial imperfection. The elastic buckling doesn't perform these two buckling modes together. For this case, I want to sum the buckling modes from different substeps on ANSYS, in order to consider the two different modes.
To sum up, I want to sum: '' UPGEOM, 0.1, 1, 1, Model, rst '' +
'' UPGEOM, 0.1, 1, 2, Model, rst ''. But I have no idea how to program that. I was thinking about open the file .rst and try to sum the displacements from each substep analysis.
Does Anyone have any idea of how can I consider these two modes as initial imperfection?
