I want to give current pulses through an extracellular stimulation electrode via Clampex and a stimulus isolator. It is not possible to generate the temporal pattern of the current pulses that I need in Clampex. Therefore, I generated them in Matlab and I am now looking for a way to import them to Clampex. The files are csv or txt files. In the left column I have the time points, in the right column I have zeros (no current) or ones (current). Clampex seems to only accept abf files as stimulus files.
Does anyone know a way to import these spike trains to Clampex?

What version of pClamp are you running?
Use Clampfit to open the txt files (File > Open Data). Once it is open you can save it or export it as an abf file if that's what you need to use in Clampex.
If you open a text document with two columns as you described, it will ask you to define the units before it is able to open it successfully. If there are headers or anything else above the data, you will need to use the "lines to skip" option (or simply delete them). It's worth mentioning that every time step must be equally spaced and have exactly the same number of digits. Depending on how you generated the file, MATLAB doesn't always format it that way unless you tell it to. "linspace" or similar MATLAB commands can fix that.
