You can combine both morpho charactersiation which will enable to ti identify many sporulating mitosporic fungi ( they have to sporulate on agar media) - then confirmation and identification to species using ITS region ( using this technique may lead to the teleomorph identification and not the anamorph that you have isolated). If non-sporulating (even after trigger expts) isolates then ITS can be used to resolve identify
