Thanks for the response and suggestion. Is it not possible to use some kind of "membrane vesel", I am just trying to figure out a possible way.

I wish to do similar studies using PEG 6000 as an osmoticum to see seed germination behavior. I have found one study where a fritted glass disk was used to separate the PEG solution from the intended subject (which was a mixture of soil and an absorbent polymer). But there is no specification of its pore size etc. I am still searching. Hope this helps you and please share your suggestions on that counts.
