We have a regulatory obligation to have quarterly calibrations on all of our adjustable volume pipettes. The pipette must perform as well as Class "A" volumetric glassware. A 10 ml pipette must be tested at 1 ml, 5 ml, and 10 ml and evaluated for both accuracy and precision.
We have yet to find a pipette that does not require quarterly re-calibation.
Our smaller volume pipettes usually can go for several quarters without needing to be re-calibrated and re-certified but the 10 ml pipette is a source of ongoing frustration

Eppendorfs are great pipettes but they do not survive the hard usage in our laboratory. Regardless of the brand, any pipette with a volume of more than 1 milliliter never seems to stay in calibration longer than three months.
