In experiment i deposit a thin film of Ag on Silica fiber, now i want to functionalize the Ag surface to adhere the PVA solution, but when i use to dip it in Trimetoxysilane solution the silver coating start degrading. what should i do to keep it stable and how to functionalize the surface?
I imagine either the TMS is oxidizing/etching away the coating or your coating is dissolving in to the solvent. Is the coating stable when immersed in just the pure solvent? What happens when you use lower concentrations and immerse for shorter times? Have you considered using a mono-functional (single-methoxy or single-ethoxy) silane to lower the reactivity with the Ag?

Sir I tried to clean the same coating with ethanol, and also immersed it in solvent, but it is still stable. Sir i didn't use mono-functional silane to lower the reactivity.
