I need to find some mechanical properties for a wood panel. Concerning Ex, Ey I thought to do a tensile test for both. Indeed I can make easily some samples in the panel. However concerning Ez I really don't how I can manage that with only 15 mm. If anybody has an idea knowing that I don't have a lot of machines(torsion, tensile, bending test).

Some authors recommend a modified shear bending test using the Iopescu fixture to determine these kind of values, e.g. http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1359835X99000809.
This seems to be a well-worked through approach, though I can't see straight away what the thickness or span-to-thickness limits would be to apply this.

Hi Antonin,
you can cup a square of your panel (50*50*15), and glue (hot melt) the faces with metal plate. Then with a special connector you can connect the metal plate to your tensile machine. I add a draw that explain this. This is common IB test for wood pannel.
Is this corresponding of what you need?
Oua looks perfect ! But if you do that, the failure could come from the glue?
Usually hot melt is really resistant, I mean much more than wood panel. And if failure happen from the glue you just don't take care of this measure.
If you have a special wood panel, maybe it could happen. What kind of wood panel do you work with?
Perfect. I have to try that. I just need to find this kind of connector ! I work with Paulownia wood but I don't think so it is a special wood panel. Should work like you say.

Do you work with solid wood or composite wood ? I am sorry to ask this but I was thinking of a panel like a particle board and not true wood.
I am working with a solid wood. Here an example of panel. Do you think that could not work? Bands can be wider. Otherwise a compressive test could work as well I think using samples measuring 50*50*15.
Antonin I am sorry of this totaly misunderstanding of your material, but solid wood will have higher resistance than hot melt.
I really don't know for compressive test. Standard dimension are 20*20*50, in order to have good repartition of effort in all fiber. With a little lenght, I belive your rupture plan is happen very fast and then your doing compressive wood. Maybe by using low effort…
