I did a reaction study about oxidative coupling of Benzyl amine and after its scope I want to confirm my catalyst is sensitive to EDG or EWG for that I need to draw hemmet plot but I cannot figure how to calculate Ko/K values and from where is can get sigma + values correctly.
A simple Hammett plot generally uses kinetic data.
You need to establish the reaction rates for each compound to establish your K values. K0 is the value for the unsubstituted system i.e. R-H. There are many ways of doing this and it would be a matter of picking one appropriate for your system.
Sigma constants for each EDG or EWG can then be obtained from reference texts or publications such as this one http://pubs.acs.org/doi/pdf/10.1021/cr00002a004.
For a more in depth analysis there are many variants to Hammett's original linear free energy relationship that take other factors such as steric influence into account.
