I used to use Poly Ethylene Glycol 400 (Sigma) to dissolve the corticosterone and dilute the PEG to 10% with saline. PEG is an irritant, so you want to go easy on that. I prepared the CORT-PEG solution beforehand (left shaking once overnight (or until it was completely dissolved), afterwards at 4*C) and diluted it as needed.
There is a soluble form of corticosterone available as well, you could just dissolve it in saline.
Thanks a lot for your answer, I was wandering if you use the resulting solution for a single injection or if you can reuse this solution during a few days?
I see that you need to vortexed the solution before injection but for how long you can conserve this solution before the corticosterone crystal reform each other?
Vania R Assis I was planning to do subcutaneous injections and actually salin solution would be better for me to use. It has lower viscosity than oil and the pump I am using need viscosity lower than 20cp. I will check if it is possible to use the same dissolution than you did in saline.
