in my experience neither PI or acridine orange staining (or a combination of both) works for differentiating early and late apoptotic cells.

thanks for your response. How about several articles, using this technique to determine the apoptosis? how could you figure out that this doesn't work for differentiation of early and late apoptotic cells?
