Stability for wide-area power systems should be obtained to keep the system in equilibrium condition in normal state as well as when system is subjected to any disturbance. What are the methods to design a controller which controls larger power systems (all generators and loads taken into an account)?
we also eigenvalue analysis for our whole system to find the range of frequency oscillation mode and its damping ratio. The results show you the states of the plant that would be instability caused by controller of the plant, or local mode and inter-area model. we use NEVA small signal analysis.

I am working on a topic "Wide-Area damping controller design for a Power System". Before asking specific doubts, First I would like to know what exactly a wide-area is and specific control techniques used in literature so far. Could you please explain the basic concept of wide area control with your expertise?
Better wide area damping can be achieved by using PMU data for power system equivalent model identification. Futher, identified model can be applied for synthesizing wide area control algorithms. I work on the same problem. Initial step of this approach you can find in the publication attached. Now, which is not published yet, we succeed in synthesizing controllers.

@Phani, It's possible to control local and inter-area mode of oscillation in the range of frequency from 0.1Hz to 2Hz or 3Hz, by PSS, POD or SVC devices. But torsional modes of oscillation are most frequently in rotor system with long shafts and large inertia constituting a weekly damped mechanical resonator, range of frequency from 20Hz to 40Hz, to damp this mode it'd better to use active damping device using thyristor controlled device.

I have learned that ..due to lack of controlability and observability in local signals, we use global signals for inter area oscillation damping , which is measured from PMUs associated with GPS or Wide area control data. My basic doubt is, how to increase controlability in case of global signals like speed deviation between generators? Is there any method to solve this without changing gain values which enhances the stability margin?
To increase the controlability for your case, maybe you use the ultra-capacitor energy storage system and model it as an ideal capacitor with equivalent series resistant and leakage resistant and connects to the system through a bidirectional DC/AC converter
with step-up ∆-Y transformer.
