Dear Somayeh, attached one article working simply with controlled water stress by a gravimetric method: you only need to weigh the pots every other day and add the water lost by evapotranspitation. Previously you need to know the maximum water retention capacity of your soil. Good luck!
Rice is sensitive from panicle and spikelet growth until grain filling. This means you should use quite big plants and containers made from sewage pipes cut to accomodate dense roots. the end of the pipe can sit on a tray and trays can be filled with water according to rainfall frequency and intensity you like want to reproduce, by scaling mm/m2 (l/m2) to actual pot section area.
