I need to evaluate load and displacement relationship of a retaining structure due to vertical load from adjacent footing. I need to know details about the modelling techniques and how get the load, displacement data from the experiment.
Contact Professor Tarek Abdoun at RPI at [email protected]. Tarek is one of the foremost centrifuge specialists in the US. He runs one of the top NSF supported research centrifuges and has a lot of experience designing centrifuge experiments properly. he understands how to build the models, what instrumentation to use, and how to interpret the results. Since you evidently are new to centrifuge testing, you will need to read up on it to get up to speed. Tarek can set you on the right course. You may want to consider making him a research partner with you in this effort.
I need to model a specific Geotechnical situation where soil are retained by spaced pile row (pile is used in stead od soil) and different geotechnical condition due to this kind of situation such as effect of bearing capacity, soil failure mechanics and effect in pile due to vertical load near this retaining structure. The challenges that I have found are:
1. How to model a scale model that represent the real field condition ?
2. How to measure the failure patteren in the soil ?
3. How to calculate pressure and displacement is the pile row /
4. To measure what kind of pressure cell are used and how to set them ?
4. How to use LVDT to measure the vertical settlement ?
