I am going to induce acute myocardial infarction in rats by LAD ligation. We do not have access to ECHO and ECG to confirm the MI model. Does the observation of damaged area (color changes) after LAD ligation confirm our model?
I am just looking for MI-induced fibrosis.
I would be very grateful if you could give me some advice.
Good morning. You can confirm visually after the complete LAD occlusion because the scar tissue is totally different of the normal myocardium. I performed a Langerdorff model 3 and 30 days after acute myocardial infarction in rat. This paper u can read here. I suggest after your work separate the scar tissue with a surgical scissors and measure in area (square paper) and weight. Good luck!
