I am working with a very large dataset, and I need to compare age distributions of two groups for multiple substances. For example, I want to compare the age distribution of venlafaxine use in group 1 and group 2, and do this analysis for multiple substances. However, I have data in a summarized format across bins rather than raw data (see attached picture). I understand that I need to run a two-sample Kolgomorov-Smirnov test but I cannot find a way to do this from a summary table.
If you want to know if there is a difference in the age distribution between the two groups, I recommend that you run a Chi-Square test. I am attaching an example for how the test could be run in Excel. Excel is not the easiest means to run the test but it illustrates the concept behind the test with the comparison of actual with expected values. As you can see from the p value in the Excel file, you would not be able to conclude that there is a difference in the age distribution between the two groups.
What software or statistic pack are you think to use? I suggest R or SPSS. Can you share with me, please? Thank you.
