Hello,

I'm planning a research project for my undergrad where I'll be IDing two invertebrate groups in the rocky shore. To estimate diversity I'll sample a 10 x 4 m quadrant for ~1hr on each locality, registering all species and their abundances (to calculate true diversity).

The papers done before didn't calculated biodiversity indexes, but did recorded abundances apart from species. However, in one methodology didn't involved quadrants nor mention the amount of time spent, the other sampled in 10 x 4 quadrants and assessed abundances but don't actually tell about time spent in searches.

Can I compare somehow the diversity between this two articles and what I'll found? or I can only talk about how the composition in the sites changed (if I found some change)
