The microbial consortium has been enriched on mineral salt medium under aerobic conditions. I have tried by measuring OD600, dry weight concentration, and viable cell count. Since the consortium aggregates, I think that I am not taking the representative samples each time when I analyze the samples to check the growth each day. Moreover, as I am using mineral salt medium it may not be reliable to measure OD600 to check the growth. Thus, it would be a great help if you can suggest any method which I can follow to take representative samples every time and also any method which is most reliable to check the growth of my microbial consortium. Tanmoy Roy Tusher Hi, you could try using DNA fluorescent dyes to get a semi-quantitative measure of microbial growth compared to known controls.
