I want to design the distributor plate and calculate the bubbles size and velocities for the reactor. The purpose of calculation is just to have an estimate before going any further with building the actual lab scale reactor.

I am using following correlations to calculate the bed height but the values clearly tells me that these correlations are not accurate.

H/Hmf = 1 + [10.978 (U - Umf)^0.738 dp^1.006 Rho_s^0.376 Umf^-0.937 Rho_g^-0.126]

Hfb = [D - (2.51 D^0.2)] / (0.13 D^0.47)

Hmax = 60 D^0.175

There are a lot of thumb rules to consider while designing the fluidized bed. I am not sure if bed height is one of those parameters that requires to be fixed by some thumb rule.

I would appreciate any help in finding the accurate correlation to calculate the bed heights for different velocities.
