how can calculate the %age of crucmin in a material (alginate) or release curcumin (turmeric) from alginate
Are you doing study on some unknown samples ? If so, it is really very challenging to find % of curcumin. However, combined use of TGA and DSC may be useful in solving your problem.

If you are analyzing the release of curcumin from any matrix you should go for HPLC system. First of all you have construct the calibration curve using known amount of curcumin after that you can easily calculate the exact amount of the released curcumin. Like wise release, you can calculate the amount of curcumine in sodium alginate matrix. Dissolve or crus the alginate matrix and make up suitable dilution. after suitable dilution pass the sample though .22 um syringe filter and inject the filtrate into HPLC system.
