I am doing a series of calculations related to the localized surface plasmon resonance formation in platinum nanoparticles. In predicting the LSPR wavelength, most formulas require that you put in that constant (ε∞) but I am not sure how to calculate it and cannot find it listed for platinum. I'm aware that these formulas aren't the most accurate for platinum due to the nature of its dielectric constants, but I'd like to have it as a rough estimation tool. Any help is appreciated!
The best approach is to fit parameters \eps_\infty and \omega_p from the experimental data.
One can assume that the interband transitions add a Lorentz term to \eps. Then you have to know the oscillator strength and the position of the transition. This would add terms like \omega_p^2 f / \omega_0^2 but if \omega_0 is less than \omega_p, the effective \omega_p where \\eps(\omega) = 0 would shift as well.
