The function to calculate a sum of the values in a vector x is is sum(x).
The function to calculate a mean of the values in x is is mean(x).
The function to claculate the squared values in x is x^2.
The function to calculate the absoute values in x is abs(x).
The standard algebraic operators (plus, minus, multiply, divide) are used as usual like x+y, x*y, etc.(where x and y are numeric vectors).
the first function in this file is the sample mean up to observation i which is not the overall mean of the sample data...
