Quantum physics applies at all scales - often at the light year scale, as Feynman pointed out for photons. It is the only viable theory of fundamental dynamics. Other theories cover approximate behaviour of aggregates. Quantum mechanics IS the philosophy of the present day. You should apply it to anything fundamental. What you want to apply it to is your choice! But beware a lot of nonsense on philosophy of mind about QM and free will and entanglement and such like.
Anything can be "applied to" philosophy. Quantum mechanics too; why not. In the same sense as almost anything can be used for such well known and completely unproductive human exercise as self-induced sexual climax. Even easier, since with philosophy there is no need to move anything... And then again, "Philosophy: A route of many roads leading from nowhere to nothing." -- Ambrose Bierce...
Most of the problems involved in philosophy involve entities with a large number of degrees of freedom (e.g. philosophers), and the actions corresponding to their motions are almost invariably much larger than hbar. Philosophy is thus squarely in the semiclassical regime and unlikely to be affected by quantum mechanics.
There are a number of ways QM has been drawn into philosophical debates, but be wary that some claims are based on wild leaps of imagination and hence have led to, sometimes, a regrettable reek of pseudo-science.
One of QM's key results has to do with Heisenberg's indeterminacy - the inherent, in principle unpredictability of the evolution of events over time, which squarely opens the door to the theoretical possibility of free will.
Another feature of QM that has often been co-opted by philosophers, sometimes not properly, is entanglement - the quality of non-separateness of things and events in a quantum-ruled universe (its theoretical underlay being Bell and Schrödinger.)
Buddhists already embrace superposition and many other aspects of quantum mechanics. I suggest you start there.
Philosophy is like a bridge between "Certainty and uncertainty" as mentioned in most of the old manuscript of Vedic age in India as well as contemporary world too.
To associate QM with Philosophy is not a different thing because QM itself promotes the probability of certainty among uncertain things. Hence unlike usual philosophy ingredients QM may not carry the theoretical as well as practical explanation to some problem but it has theoretical solution to almost all problems around us like creation of universe to its growth and finally its death. Its like adopted child of philosophy which has responsibility and right towards philosophy but not match in genotype and appearance.
