We conducted game counts by vehicle and on foot on our reserve. Due to the dense vegetation, and thus low visibility, we repeated these counts at least 8 times. Counts were done at the same time, about one per week. The reserve is 1100 ha and our transect line (a round trip) about 13 km. In essence we thus have one line transect that we counted repeatedly. Is it possible to analyse repeat counts in Distance software and how do we do this? If not, are there any other tools we could use to analyse our data?

Distance will correct for the effort (in km) and will calculate a rate encounter along your transect. Just load your effort data and associate the sightings, the software (right or wrong) does not worry about the repeated transect. However, you may want to have a look at temporal variations? What type of sampling have you chosen finally?
