Hi everybody.

I have a problem with solving the characteristic equation of an acoustic absorption coating. I have a 4*4 matrix that its determinant must be solved and the answer (the roots of the characteristic equation) is going to be used inside the transfer matrix of an absorbent coating.

My problem is that I can't solve the Det(A)=0 and extract the roots. It seems that the matrix A is ill-conditioned. Does anybody know any go-arounds on how I can extract the roots from the ill-conditioned A matrix (Eq. 10)?

For more information, the matrix elements are complex and include the Bessel and Newmann functions with complex arguments.
