In Ro de Janeiro (Brazil) currently the organic status of residents in the slum area has greatly improved. Various locations of medical consultations were created of easy .
access (Primary health care program).
The most frequent diseases in slum dwellers are: diarrhea (contaminated water) , malnutrition (low income), contagious infectious and dermatological diseases (poor sense of hygiene and poor sanitation) beyond teen pregnancy (lack of information and social care) )
The slum dweller have numerous problems that still need to be resolved:
In slum areas and in the countryside, there are no water-supply lines;
Are needed Integrated water and sanitation interventions for effective slum upgrading through community participation
For the urban slum dweller, the quest for energy services hinges on whether or not the institutions that serve the community are accountable to their constituency.
Despite the country's growing middle and upper classes, extreme poverty is still widespread, especially in the countryside and slum areas of major cities
More public health for all these problems are required.
The best way is fort-nightly collection of history of illness for the precding 15 days, on a sub-sample of households. The other way is to bank on secondary data collected from the near by clinics/dispensaries usually visited by the community.
To monitor the disease rate for particular slum , first we can conduct survey to know the baseline and pattern of disease in the slum, Later on we can allot selected area to trained volunteers who can suspect the case on the basis of case definition and record it in the register.Then by providing a referral slip submits the patient to the health worker of that area or health institution.After that whatever feed back volunteers get,should put on the register.Then on the basis of volunteers to record we can monitor the disease rate in the slum. Otherwise it is not possible to get information from the health institution record as they are very less pay visit to the health institutions.The reasons may poverty, ignorance or any other.
