In my research, Cobalt works as a catalyst and promotes my water treatment with faster rates. Cobalt being a heavy metal, Homogeneous catalysis could not be adopted. Please guide if someone has immobilized cobalt on any granular zeolites and which type of zeolite would work better with this?

Alternatively you can choose cation exchange method and prepare the Co-exchanged zeolites. For this you need to choose zeolites with low Si/Al ratio (zeolites such as Faujasite, X, Y can found very effective for ion exchange). Merely soaking the zeolite (~5g) in cobalt nitrate solution (1M) and reflux it at 60-80 C can help to exchange the cations. separate the powder and heat it at 120 o-150C. It will be your Co-exchanged zeolite. In this case you should know the Si/Al ratio of zeolite and cation exchange behavior of the selected zeolites. certain zeolites are stubborn to exchange their cations..

Also, You can immobilize Co metal on zeolite using reduction method with NaBH4.
