Most gene functions in animals, such as cattle, sheep, and goats, are often compared to those in humans. Gene expression is largely influenced by the type and amount of environmental stimuli. However, humans tend to perceive and respond to these stimuli differently than animals do. While humans perceive and analyze stimuli, animals lack this capability. Consequently, most genome databases reference the phenotypes of various genes in animals using the human genome as a basis. Despite the differences between species, scientists are confident in the expression of most genes across different organisms. How are we confident to refer the human gene function to animals or sometimes to plants? How can these differences be compromised?
