Using circular economy concept how an initiative can be taken to deal with the agricultural waste ? What could be the major requirement in designing an efficient network utilizing this concept ???
@ Vivek, circular economy model is based on three principles i.e. eliminate waste and pollution, circulate products and materials and regenerate nature. It is not only waste management but reuse and recycling. It can reducing emissions and increasing efficient use of natural resources (including energy, water and materials). It is actually a cyclical closed-loop system that minimizes excess. Moving to such a model could reduce waste, improve resource productivity, and better manage resource scarcity. It could also help reduce the environmental impact of production itself. It can deliver the benefits such as reducing pressure on the environment, improving the security of the supply of raw materials, increasing competitiveness, stimulating innovation, boosting economic growth and creating jobs. The major requirements in designing circular economy are to maintain product integrity over multiple use cycles (for instance through repair, refurbishment, and remanufacturing), and to focus on closing loops (through recycling), while at the same time building economically viable product–service systems.
The major thing, which one needs to understand is that there is not "patent solution". Solutions have to be individually adapted to local situations. Stakeholders have to be included into participative processes to understand how you can use agricultural waste. One example could be: Transfer agricultural waste to a nearby biogas plant, use it to generate electricity and thus e.g. power agricultural machines.
The requirement needs to be sustainability, i.e. amount of waste, processing methonds, etc.
J. C. Tarafdar , Volker Maiwald and Emmanuel V Murray Thankyou professors, Your view on this topic is really appreciating. I again Thankyou all for sharing this idea with me.
