In many publications, I have seen that one phase of a peroxide crosslinked EVA/PU blend has been etched by its solvent to analyse the morphology of the blend. the etched portions are seen in the SEM image as black spots. Generally, cross-linking make the polymer chains bonded together and thus the material stronger and resistant to solvents.

From a cross-linked system, how one phase can be removed by a solvent?

If the material is cross-linked, how one phase can be dissolved? Does it mean the system is not fully cross-linked?
