Well I am also working in an institution where teaching and learning was the focus for many decades but recently we have started to provide focus on research alongside teaching and learning. So I have experienced that forming collaborative groups and putting in place research mentoring programmes for the academics through dedicated time in a week helps to promote research scholarship.
Agree. Doing research make us a better teachers and at the same time open opportunities to collaborate across disciplines and departments on campus. One does have to be quite persistent to make sure that this practical initiatives does not vanish somehow.
