Dear all,
Our group has tried for several months to establish a homemade protocol for MDA-assay (Malondialdehyde Colorimetric Assay) to measure lipid peroxidation levels in cell culture. So far, our lowest detectable signal threshold was reached at 1.2 mM MDA in the standard curves and no signal could be obtained in the cell's supernatant. I was therefore wondering if someone could share a working protocol with us.

Is there a reason you are avoiding using commercially available kits? The one from Abcam (ab233471) works quite well can can detect under 50 micromolar.
