I am working on Li ion half cell ( Li metal vs NMC) and upon charge and discharge I found out that the each cycle charge capacity is higher than previous cycle discharge capacity.
Any idea why this is happening?
As far as I know, upon charge, Lithium ion delithiate from cathode to be intercalated in anode ( plate in my case). So higher capacity of charge vs previous cycle discharge means higher number of Li deintercalates than previously intercalated, which doesn't make sense.
Dear Milad,
In my opinion it is coming from the Li metal since you are working in half cells. Dendrites or platting may cause abnormal charges that continuously increase. Have you tried to double separator or use a thicker one? You can also try to operate at low C rate or add a relaxation time between cycles.
