A harrowing report published 30 May 2019 produced by the Melbourne-based think tank the Breakthrough National Centre for Climate Restoration argues that “climate change now represents a near to mid-term existential threat to human civilization,”.
Do you think the report realistic?
The report has forecast— human civilization could end by 2050 due to the destabilizing societal and environmental factors caused by a rapidly warming planet.
When consumption is higher than produce ( even with natural resources) what could one expect ? civilisation is on the path of self destruction
imagine water resources are being polluted landfills, abuse and misuse of plastics, pollution, amount of electronic junk, tailoring waste, medical waste, industrial affluents and countless avenues to destroy earth !! Imagine civilisation has found a path to self destruction. S A D !!

I don't think climate change is (yet) an existential threat. It is already bad for a lot of people and will get worse, with impacts disproportianately on the poor and on those dependent on climate-controlled features, such as sea ice or, increasingly, coral reefs, which are disappering. But this isn't the whole world and middle-income countries like China and India, with more than 2 billion people, now have much greater capacity to adapt. It is a crisis, certainly, and needs to be treated like one, but if we don't make it to 2050 it will be because of nuclear war or bioterrorism or some novel threat, not climate change. Minimize your own greenhouse gas emissions, support the Paris agreement, and pressure your government to meet their agreed NDC targets and ratchet them up for the next round. It is the only agreement we have and still the best hope for minimizing damage.

If the reason for human extinction would be due to destabilizing societal and environmental factors caused by a rapidly warming planet, then I believe it is unlikely to happen. This is because humans are humans. We are smart and almost always find solutions to unprecedented problems. I am sure if that is going to happen some time, we humans will find a way to salvage some of us, if not all to prevent extinction of the species. An example is the stride to colonize Mars and the look out for other life-supporting planets
No, I dont agree that the human civilization is coming to an end...If we look at the history , the human civilization is at its peak in the present context..and i think humans have the capability to sustain it for a long time until a calamity occurs
The question '' Human Civilization '' is nothing but the reflection of dismal picture . It is in this line some time I have expressed my views which I submit herewith for your perusal .
This is my personal opinion
I think one should be careful talking of the end of human civilization. This could be even counterproductive, taking people's believe that the challenge can be mastered. I am certain that it can, but it will require far reaching changes. Many, e.g. in energy has already started.....
