Hi all, I measured the % of NK cells in blood from NOD/Scid mice vs Balb and, unexpectedly, I got very high % (around 65%) of NK cells in NOD/Scid mice, whereas in a Balb I got 10-12% NK cells. For the FACS analysis I used anti NK p46 (CD335).
Have you ever found similar % in these immunodeficient mice?

Dear Linda Nocchi ,
It is possible that in SCID (severe combined immunodeficiency) mice that are impaired in V(D)J recombination, you may see no T or B cells whereas functional NK cells remain. So, it may be natural to detect relatively high NK cell frequencies in blood.
If this matters, you may choose a strain of mice with a further defect in NK cell development such as NSG and NOG.
