How can I defend this?
I would restate what you found to the reviewer, and perhaps embellish your discussion of these findings a bit more so that the reviewer can see that you have made some revisions.
You have to refer some prior studies that found non-significant finding(s), and then provide arguments related to your study's context

I believe the reviewer wants you to explain what you mean by diverse demographic information. What are the diverse demographic information and how do the affect the results you got? Also prior to this, you need to refer to literature on findings that support your results. If there is nothing then you can go ahead and explain the possible reasons why you are getting a different result. Your results may be supported by other researches after yours and so you need to help them understand the dynamics of your population and your research which affects your results.

You should give example of particular demographics which could back your statement up for example men between 35-45 years with large bellies are more prone to type-2 diabetes
I suggest that you link this result to previous studies in terms of agreement and disagreement in the context of the aim of your study.
