I´m working with a dry cyanobacteria algae, my project is about hydrolysis proteins with some enzymes. But I have some problems in the extraction or concentration of the protein, the first one is that when I dilute it with water, it becomes like a dough. So I don´t know If I need to make a pre-treatment before.
If someone has any experience, it would be really useful.

It is necessary to degredation the algal cells by the ultrasonic homogenizer device, noting that the temperature does not rise during the cracking, the filtration of the product and the drying of the product and then the get proteins by the process of dialysis
Hello, try to resuspend the dry biomass in ice cold PBS rather than water. That might help in solving the suspension issue. A proper cell rupture technique is needed to release the protein from the biomass. Some microalgae have robust cell walls, so you might have to test a few methods depending on your species. Then it is important to select a suitable standard (BSA, BCA etc.) for the protein assay. There are a few papers comparing the different standards. Hope this would help.
