I am looking any comments/views/paper/journal articles on relationship between Health Literacy and information seeking. To what extent health literacy contribute to information seeking or vice versa
Health literacy is one of the literacy concepts, which draws on information seeking. So, seeking or searching for helath information is a part of health literacy. Other examples of such literacies are computer literacy and media literacy.
In all these literacy concepts it is important to be able to make informational choices wisely and understand what you are doing and why. Health literacy goes a step further and hooks information gathered this way into daily health routines.
Even more connected to information seeking is eHealth literacy, or electronic health literacy. Norman and Skinner give an overview what 'consumers' need as skills to be eHealth literate (link below).
This is an important issue in healthcare because of the availability of online information which is readily accessible which can empower patients. However there are barriers to achieving proper engagement with the requisite information unless one has reasonable 'health literacy skills'
