I did a simple moderation analysis (model 1; relation from X on Y with examine the influnce of 1 moderator). If I see the output, my model is significant but my interaction not. What does this mean/ what is the difference between the model and the interaction?
Second, I would like to ask if it's true that R2 explaines the percent variance between these three variables. Is that correct?

Hello Joelle,
First question: The absence of moderator ("M") by main effect ("X") interaction means that there's no evidence for a moderation effect in your data set.
Second question: Yes, Rsquared gives explanatory power of the set of three variables for differences (variance) in the dependent variable.

Significance of the model refers to the model fitness whereas significance of the regression coefficient is meant for significance of the relationship being tested between IVs and DV. As far as insignificance of interaction of concerned, it means that your moderator does not significantly moderates the relationship between IV and DV variables.
