I'm seeking a cheap and efficient H2S filter with a long life cycle (long time running before changing).
My daily biogas production is between 0.01 and 0.06 m3. I haven't measured the H2S content but It must be in average (1000ppm or less).
I want use the biogas for cooking, nevertheless I worry about corrosion and how do the stove connection.
If someone has a suggestion, I am pleased to hear it.

You could try to use the Fe2O3 to absorb the H2S in the biogas. In China, Fe2O3 is the main effective constituent of the desulfurizer.

You may use steel wool. It is not expensive and should do the work. Basically, it uses the principle explained by Cheng Ming Zhang.

I reviewed the Fe2O3 option and it could be suitable for me. According to my calculations, for 0.01 - 0.06 m3 of daily biogas flow and a range from 50 to 1000 ppm of H2S content, the Fe2O3 requirement is low, a maximun 200g of impregnated wood chips (20-50% efficiency) in a year. Nevertheless, I am not sure if my system can guarantee the alkaline water requirement, and if my pressure gradient is enough for down flow commonly used.

Your proposal is interesting because this steel wool is available in any place, here is known like "bombril" and my mom has one in the kitchen. I read that Fe + H2S reaction is very slow, if my pressure gradient is low it will have enough time retention for reaction, moreover it doesn't need a support (e.g. wood chips). I didn't find efficiency information, I guess it is similar to Fe2O3, nevertheless it is disposed after using.

Thanks again, for your response. I don't know the H2S content because It hasn't been measured, nevertheless I estimate a content between 50 - 1000 ppm (for anaerobic digestion of food wastes is around 200 ppm). This is a pre-survey for choose a suitable H2S filtering methods in a first approximation.

Hi. Is it realy necessary?
We have some guys here with biodigesters producing between 1 to 2 cubic meters of biogas per day and they dont have much problem with corrosion. They use brass aloy stoves that dont corrode easily though. But generally I think the H2S is not so much to warrant the need for a desulpherizer even though you could easily make one yourself using iron fillings or steel wool.
