I pretty much solved this problem nearly 20 years ago and presented my results at a conference called ‘digital futures’. I have posted a good overview on RG under the heading ‘powerpoint presentation files’. Look for the file ‘dig futures 2000.ppt’under the tabs ‘linked flies (8) and ‘show more’. The only problem is that the image segmentation process depends critically on the accuracy of an available RGB screen-colour calibration (see if you will (IM devlop.ppt).
