Some monts ago I posted a similar question (I paste the link below). There are many products in the market based on fungal B-glycanes. However, it seems like none of the proposed preparations reach the medical prescriptions in occidental medicine and I don't know if this is due to health standars or to a general lack of interest of the farma sectors.

I am sure there is a substantial effect of some fungi like species you mentioned, but unfortunately, they may quite limited numbers of scientist are likely to be interested in this great resources of pharmaceutical components. Thank you for valuable comments

I agree with both of you about the impact of some fungal components on human diseases. We have to pay more attention to this important subject. In my lab different experiments were carried out but concentrated on dermatophyte fungal infection, for example, my student demonstrated the inhibitory effect of Marasmius palmivorus and Pleurotus ostreatus filtrates on the characteristics of Trichophyton rubrum colonies as the colour of colonies produced in culture treated with filtrates tended to be white to milky for both filtrates, the diameters of colonies were greatly diminished, the periphery of colonies were irregular. Furthermore, the results of this experiment revealed a significant inhibitory effect of P. ostreatus and M. palmivorus filtrates on the growth of this pathogen. The gene expression analysis confirmed that combination treatments and terbinafine as well suppressed the expression of virulence-related genes (citrate synthase and isocitrate lyase), which was active in the T-induced glyoxylate pathway.

I hope we can do some collaborative work to bush forward for utilizing mushroom fungi for therapeutic strategy. Best regards
