I am doing research on gene exploring in aquatic species. I have read some papers in this field, most studies of which were performed to identify new genes in some species by homologous gene sequencing and exploring them. At the end of the abstract of those papers, sentences like this were always added: the **-gene may play an important role in the immune-response/growth/… in **-species. However, the details of the roles they are playing are not clear, and the application of those findings were not performed either. Does anybody know if there is any successful cases of the application of gene exploring in aquatic species?
