The combination of port injection and in-cylinder injection has been employed in some diesel engines, and this injection strategy has been proven to improve engine performances.

So does anyone know some researches about the port and in-cylinder injection strategy utilized in spark gasoline engines? If the port injection fuel mass fraction is changed, the equivalence ratio distribution in the cylinder could be corresponding altered. could a significant improvement of engine performance be achieved by adopting this combined injection strategy?

Thank you for your attention and kind help.
