Has factory or pad drilling been used for heavy oil development?

I would appreciate if anyone could share materials in terms of field reports, drilling plans/programs, journal articles, conference papers, book chapters, etc on factory drilling. I wish to see if and how it could be applied to heavy oil reservoirs. If yes, what are the adaptations that must be made in terms of operational, well design, equipment modification/substitution, economics and environmental considerations? Are there pilot projects that are under development or have been completed?
