As far as I know,, there has not been any study yet using microperimetry with multifocal IOLS. I know a case discussed during a microperimetry seminar at he AAO-2012 from from Dr. Neil Notaroberto (New Orleans), who decided to remove the multifocal IOL after finding unstable fixation with the microperimetry evaluation.
Microperimetry is not of value in defining the real world vision of multifocal IOL implanted eyes, especially those with any coexisting retinal disease since it defines only the same as Humphrey perimetry= detection of low contrast spots against a photopic lit diffuse background. The best devices for providing real world vision measurements in such eyes is the Central Vision Analyzer (Freeman, ML, "Measuring the quality of vision after cataract surgery- Review" Current Opinion Ophthalmol 24: 1-9, 2013) and the Omnifield (the first acuity visual field) - a lecture will be given on this by myself at the Visoptics Booth at the ASCRS in Boston
