A small impression is taken with a clear PVS bite registration material before the tooth is prepared. That small impression is used as a die to reform the occlusal surface of the unset composite. Then light is transmitted through the clear matrix leaving a surface that is not air inhibited and needs little to no polishing, finishing or adjusting.

I have done it and it worked out really well. On the other hand, it takes a lot of clinical time to do it compared to the regular composite restorations.
Usually the dentist and patient save 5 to 10 minutes of chair-time since there is less time spent placing and contouring the unset composite and much less time, possibly no time, spent finishing and polishing the light-cured composite. Thanks for looking at my web site. If you have watched some of my videos you see the results. Yes, it is Better, Faster and Easier. I know that is hard to believe, but I even surprised myself the first time I used it. No finishing, no adjusting. Yes, hard to believe when placing a posterior composite. After just checking the occlusion the patient gets up and walks out with no adjustment, finishing or polishing. The problem is it sounds too good to be true. And, there are NO proprietary products used, any clear bite registration material will work.
