Has anyone tried to design specific primers for Collembola in soil samples?

Has anyone tried to design specific primers for Collembola (any region, i.e. mtCOI, LSU, ITS1, 18S, mt16S) from environmental samples (soil, traps)? It seems the animals are always sorted out before barcoding - why? See, e.g. Saitoh et al. (2016), dx.doi.org/10.1139/gen-2015-0228.
