I am planning an experiment where I need to apply a fungicide in lettuce. Rather than emplyoing a spray application, I am looking for the possibility of injecting the active ingredient into the stem or leaves directly. I came through some techniques like Agroinfiltration technique or Tree Trunk Injection Technique. But, would like to know what the peers in this area have been doing.

People are injecting dyes in white flowers to produce for example Blue sky Phalaenopsis.
I think the process will be the same, but is not an injection in the strictu sensu.The product is added to a plug and the plug fixed in the plant.

Off-course, it will be possible to use syringes to inject the product directly yo the plant. We use this techniques for inoculating bacterial pathogen and biocontrol agents. I believe it will work for you too. However, the main point is how the fungicide works, Is it systemic? what concentration will be safe to use? at what part of the plant and age will be best to inject? and soon. So consider this first and even have a pilot observation before you start the actual experiment.
As to my experience, you can use the a BD Insulin syringes to use very low amount and conc of the product and to have a very minimal injury to the plant because it is a very tiny needle. Very less probable to cause injury or wound by this needle.

The main problem was to relate the pressure of the plant with the pressure of the injection. In our case the syringe can "fit" their injection pressure to the plant in order to make possible the entrance of the fungicide
