we are investigating using AL as a storage medium in a gas-tight environment possible using N2 or inert gas after eliminating the atmospheric O2 in this sealed containment. We would love to know if any of your investigations revealed if eliminating O2 in gas sealed containment can prevent the growth of AL2O3.

sealed containment can prevent the growth of AL2O3 : Al2O3 is the stable protective layer in aluminium containers - this oxide surface is also self heals - it is required.
I would not recommend this. There will always be some residual oxygen in the environment. Moreover, nitrogen will react with molten aluminum when all oxygen is consumed. Good luck!
