This Bacteria is EPS-producing and already clumpy. My interest is to get bacterial cells but not the EPS/biofilm made by these cells. Apart from ion resin protocol, is there any useful method I can exercise? Thanks for your suggestion!
A refined technique for harvesting EPS/biofilm - free bacterial cells have been reported. In contrast to SDS, NaCl hardly caused leakage of intracellular proteins and did not affect viability of bacterial cells within biofilm. Furthermore this method is applicable to other bacteria such as Staphylococcus epidermidis and Gram negative E. coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. This refined method is rapid, low cost and non - invasive and could be used for a broad range of applications. For details consult https://www.ncbi.clm.nih.gov -- articles
