This Bacteria is EPS-producing and already clumpy. My interest is to get bacterial cells but not the EPS/biofilm made by these cells. Apart from ion resin protocol, is there any useful method I can exercise? Thanks for your suggestion!
A refined technique for harvesting EPS/biofilm - free bacterial cells have been reported. In contrast to SDS, NaCl hardly caused leakage of intracellular proteins and did not affect viability of bacterial cells within biofilm. Furthermore this method is applicable to other bacteria such as Staphylococcus epidermidis and Gram negative E. coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. I work on yeast cells. this can be useful to you, you can draw inspiration from it.
I harvest cells without EPS using the centrifugation technique. the biofilms are placed in PBS (pH 7.4) and then centrifuged twice.
the pellet (microbial cells) is recovered and the supernatant (EPS and others) is discarded.

You may use bio compatible surfactant like teen 80/20 in the media to reduce biofilm formation
